Thousands of miles from his native Texas proved to be a difficult adjustment for this now-New Yorker. Luckily. he knew exactly what he wanted: a space to remind him of his rural past that mixed effortlessly with his metropolitan future. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and deserved a very central position in this aparmtent. A mix of a more traditional structure with modern elements on top can be seen throughout this space. Everything really is bigger in Texas, so instead of maxing out this space with larger items and furniture; in turn we added some bravado with fun patterns, pops of color, and statement art pieces. The result is a space, evocative of this young man's native home, and welcoming his new one in with open arms. |
The Texas flag is the main focal point of the room. It was the inspiration for the entire space. I loved adding adorable succulents, like the one you see here, to give life to the room. It's very congruent with the Texas landscape, and this small planter I found felt pattern appropriate for a Texas Expatriate. |
